Authentication Process
1. Ink Analysis
Our laboratories employ advanced, non-destructive ink analysis methods. These include ultraviolet and infrared spectral examination to identify the ink’s absorption characteristics, as well as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In HPLC, a sample of the ink is introduced into a calibrated column and separated by solvent flow, allowing each component to be detected electronically. These techniques enable us to identify autopen, facsimile, stamped, or otherwise inauthentic signatures, as well as inks inconsistent with the stated period of the item.
2. Signature Cross-Referencing
Each signature is compared against our proprietary reference database of more than 100,000 verified exemplars. Computer-assisted matching is then used to evaluate key characteristics, including stroke flow, angle, style, and spontaneity, to determine consistency with known authentic signatures.
3. Unique Certificate Number
Once an item successfully passes all laboratory examinations and is certified as authentic, it is issued a unique certificate number. This identifier is permanently linked to the item and recorded in our database for future verification.
External Authentication Process
1. When an item purchased by CollectiHall is already accompanied by a COA/LOA, the authentication verification is directly completed from the vendor, based on their authentication process.
